Change can be good!
I posted my rant on changing insurance companies, so I thought I’d update you on my doctor situation. In case you missed it, my husband’s work changed insurance companies and the doctor who saved my life does not take our new insurance, so I have to switch doctors. I procrastinated for as long as I could, but with my supply of B12 rapidly dwindling, I had to bite the bullet and go on a doctor search. I had asked around and got a few names, but never wrote anything down, so when I finally committed to make an appointment I was flying by the seat of my pants.
I went to my insurance website and did a doctor search for my area. About 5 doctors down the list I saw a name that I recognized from when I asked around and picked him. Crazy I know, especially for me who always yells at you to be pro active when it comes to your doctor. But I figured someone had recommended him and if I didn’t like him I would simply try someone else.
So I went the other day, and guess what? I really like him and am very happy! The office was nice and his nurses are super friendly and helpful (and I have to admit, much better then my other doctors staff). He immediately recognized my pernicious anemia and kept my current treatment the same. He also took a boat load of other tests without me having to ask, which makes me super happy. If things continue this way, I have found my new doctor! They just better not switch my insurance again.
